"I went into photography because it seemed like the perfect vehicle for commenting on the madness of today's existence." - 365 Project, Day 160

In order to make the work environment more friendly and boost morale, places of employment will often organise various outings, sometimes in the form of barbecues, sometimes picnics or sometime other various forms of diversions.  My workplace is no different, and organises random nights of various sports (hockey, basketball), games (card games, monopoly, even an employee-created quiz game once) and foods (mostly of the junk variety), and water balloons.  Because of the first big party of the sort, every other kind of seems quite clinical and organised when it comes to water balloons.

The first big party/barbecue/Sunday funday was tons of fun (as, to be fair, they all are), but about two thirds of the way through the evening, someone broke out some water balloons.  It was very spontaneous and quite unexpected.  The random impulse someone had to start chucking these things around surprised everybody, and everybody jumped in the fun.  Nobody there was dry by the time the last balloon popped.  Every party since then, people expect water balloons and takes away from the spontaneity of the happening.  Again, it all seems somewhat... sterile.  Though the evenings are fun, they don't compare to the first time.

The context of a picture may be just as important as the picture itself.  Sometimes the story provides a great deal of enjoyment to the picture, and adds an extra element.  Taking a picture of a hotel is somewhat bland, but explaining why that picture is there may shed some light and increase interest.  Otherwise, it's just a hotel.  Or a water balloon.

Here are today's pictures.

Her note: Loved the clouds today.

(They were pretty nice, yes.)

My picture

Having fun with water balloons after work.  This is an occasional happening during the summer.

I'm ambivalent about tomorrow.  I'll let you know how it turns out tomorrow.
